Term Definition
Service mark a word, phrase, symbol, and/or design that identifies and distinguishes the source of a service rather than goods.
Society of European Stage Authors and Composers (SESAC) a performance-rights organization (PRO) in the United States. Since the organization stopped using its full name in 1940, it is now known exclusively as SESAC. SESAC was founded in 1930, making it the second-oldest P.R.O. in the United States. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, SESAC deals with all aspects of the business, from creation to licensing and administration. The company also has offices in New York City, Los Angeles and London. SESAC has 30,000 songwriters and over 400,000 compositions in its catalogue.
Streaming generally refers to the situation where a user watches digital video content or listens to digital audio content on a computer screen and speakers (ranging from a smartphone, through a desktop computer to a large-screen home entertainment system) over the Internet. With streaming content, the user does not have to download the entire digital video or digital audio file before they start to play it. Content distributed online may be streamed or downloaded, and often consists of books, films and television programs, music, software, and video games. Streaming involves downloading and using content at a user's request, or "on-demand", rather than allowing a user to store it permanently. In contrast, fully downloading content to a hard drive or other form of storage media may allow offline access in the future.
Trademark a word, phrase, symbol, and/or design that identifies and distinguishes the source of the goods of one party from those of others. Some examples include: brand names, slogans, and logos. The term "trademark" is often used in a general sense to refer to both trademarks and service marks. Unlike patents and copyrights, trademarks do not expire after a set term of years. Trademark rights come from actual “use” (see below). Therefore, a trademark can last forever - so long as you continue to use the mark in commerce to indicate the source of goods and services. A trademark registration can also last forever - so long as you file specific documents and pay fees at regular intervals.
Video content content that is expressed through a visual medium and includes elements such as speech, writing, and other various arts. It is delivered via different media including the Internet, cinema, television, smartphones, DVDs, e-books, live events, conferences, and stage performances.
